Week of March 2, through March 6

Religion– We are continuing our study of Lent and will move into Holy Week and Easter.

Science-Simple and complex machines help us do work with less force, or effort. This unit explains what work is, as well as the relationship between force and distance. It introduces the seven traditional simple machines and how they function. One or more simple machines may be combined to form complex machines capable of doing many repetitive, difficult, complicated, or dangerous tasks. Understanding how various machines work will help students to choose appropriate machines and use them properly. Please study highlighted material.

Social Studies– We have finished our Fabulous African American research. Our peeps did great job, and all posters are hanging in the hall. Stop in and see the wonderful work. This week we will learn more about slavery and the Civil War.   Please encourage your peep to study all highlighted material.

Math Mrs Dinkel will be out this week, but they are being left in very capable hands. The students will work on division with repeated subtraction and using partial quotients as well as division with regrouping.

Language Arts– For our novel study we will read Hoot. Some of the skills we will practice are figurative language, vocabulary and different ways to show we comprehend and can retell the story.Moving right along with RACE. We have RA down pat. We will finish up with CE and then we will use this strategy on all assignments as we go forward.
