3rd Grade Weekly Wave
RELIGION – We are not going to take a test over Chapter 6, but the students will complete the Chapter Review in the book for a grade. We will also read through the Christmas Chapter in our book this week.
It is our turn to lead the All School Mass this week! Please be looking for students to come home with Mass parts to practice their readings. Not all students have a reading part, but please be sure to ask them what part they do have!
**Don’t forget that all students should be in Mass uniform.
Girls – plaid jumper/skirt or blue pants with a white shirt/blouse
Boys – blue pants and white shirt
SPELLING – We are working through our chapter book “Little House in the Big Woods.” Our words are tough and students will need to study, study, study! Please don’t wait until the night before to look the words over! Our tests this week will be on WEDNESDAY and FRIDAY! Please see the link below for the list of words for the three weeks we will be reading this book!
Little House Spelling Words
READING – We will be reading “Little House in the Big Woods” over the next three weeks! We will be doing most of the reading in class, but there may be some nights that students will need to finish up the reading assignment. We will also do our best to complete all work in class, but again, some may need to finish at home. Please encourage your child to use their time wisely in class over the next few weeks!
This week, we will read chapters 9-13 with a test over these chapters on Friday.
GRAMMAR /VOCAB. – Our Grammar lessons will come from the Little House activities that we will be doing over the next few weeks!
MATH – We will finish up Chapter 4 this week. We still have a few things to go over, but the test will be on Thursday. It will cover multiplication facts, distributive and associative properties, and using a multiplication table.

**NEW HOMEWORK POLICY-
Student work is to be turned in when it is due. Here is what it looks like if that doesn’t happen…any work not completed or turned in will result in a 0 in the grade book. Your student will have until the following week to turn in the missing or incomplete work. If it is not turned in or completed by this point, your student will choose to turn the temporary zero to into a permanent zero. I also do not do extra credit. I expect the work to be completed on time. As always, if you have questions, comments, or concerns, please email me and let me know.

MULTIPLICATION SUNDAES- **NEW INFO!!**
I am moving the MULTIPLICATION SUNDAE party to Thursday, Dec. 19! We have several things going on this week, so I would like to extend the time and let the kids have as much time as possible to turn in their slips and earn as much of the sundae as they can! I have provided the link for the Sign Up Genius for helping me provide items for the sundae! Our party will be at 2pm on Thursday, Dec. 19! Parents are welcome to join us!!
Please continue to encourage your child to practice their facts and turn in their slips! I would LOVE to have everyone show some effort and at least earn some parts of the sundae! If you lost the blue slips, just write it on a piece of paper and sign it! Remember, your child can only turn in the slips for two sets at a time and they must go in order!!
All items for the Sundae party will need to be brought to school by Wednesday, Dec. 18!!
CHRISTMAS PARTY –
Our Class Christmas party will be on Friday, Dec. 20. Since we will dismiss at 1pm, our party will start at 12:15. I have the following signed up to help.
Snack – Isabell
Drink – Evey
Craft – Dinkel
Game – Dinkel
School Sweatshirts –
Please be aware that the uniform policy says “School sweatshirts are the only ones allowed and must be worn with a collared uniform shirt underneath.” I usually have my window opened at least a little all year long, so if your child is one to get cold easily, you may want to make sure they have and bring, a school uniform sweatshirt to wear in class.
Now that we are experiencing winter weather, please be sure your child comes to school each day with a coat or heavy jacket. Hats and gloves are also good to have tucked into the pockets! We will go outside unless it is 25 degrees or below! ALL STUDENTS NEED TO BE PREPARED FOR OUTDOOR RECESS!!!
TARDIES/SPIRIT DAYS –
It is very important for the students to be at school every day and on time and ready to go each day! An important part of the day is the first 10-15 minutes when the kids come in the room. They need time to talk, turn in work, use the restroom, etc. before we get our day started! When the kids come in late, they are missing the time to settle in and get prepared for the day. Please try to have your child/ren to school before the tardy bell rings at 8 am!
AS STATED IN THE HANDBOOK – If your child is tardy 3 times during the month, they will not be allowed to dress out of uniform for Spirit Day. If they have 6 or more tardies in the same month, they will not be allowed to dress out of uniform nor will they be allowed to participate in Spirit Day. The timing on this goes from SPIRIT DAY of one month to the day before the SPIRIT DAY of the next month.
