Only two weeks left of the quarter! Students need to get those Newbery books read and those AR tests taken! With only a limited time left, students need to stay up on assignments and make sure all work is turned in. We will have a social studies states test and a math test before the end of the quarter. Unfortunately, our bigger social studies test will not make it in before the end.

Ash Wednesday Mass is this week. Students need to wear Mass uniform on Wednesday and Thursday.

Here is a look at what we are up to this week:

We are finishing up with volume of rectangular prisms and will be looking at irregularly shaped prism volume. We will also focus on story problems. We will test next week.

Social Studies-

We are finishing up the “road to the revolution” this week We will also have our first test over states, capitals, and abbreviation this Friday. Students have had their list since last week. This paper has all five lists on them. They have access to endless (as long as I keep the pile replenished) blank maps for studying purposes and there are two Quizlets online. Students must be able to label the 10 states on the map, know the abbreviations of the states, and match the state with its capital

From Mrs. Tieken:  All activities will reflect or study of Lent.

Reading/Language Arts-

Reading: We finished Hatchet last week and are doing various comprehension activities focusing on characters, plot, conflict, internal struggle, and other important aspects of the book.

Grammar/Language: review of the parts of speech, revising and imitating mentor sentences

Vocabulary: We will resume vocabulary next week.

Writer’s Workshop: We will revise our School Cafeteria pieces from our ‘Finish the Narrative” prompts.

All students must have one AR novel read by March 13 (next Wednesday) and have AR test taken for a grade.  Book assigned is Newbery or Newbery Honor award books.

This week, we are doing a STEM activity that is tied to the Boston Tea Party. Students must design and create a crate that will prevent the tea bag from getting wet. We will see which design keeps the tea bag dry the longest.
