Welcome Back! We have a lot going on this week! We are taking the Math STEEP on Thursday and on Friday, there is Mass, Honor’s Day, and Spirit Day. Report cards go home on Thursday. Please return if possible with signatures on Friday. I definitely need them returned no late than next Tuesday.
I sent out thank-you cards today for Christmas gifts and treats. Also, thanks for the snacks that have been sent in, as well as those of you that send in glue sticks. They are much appreciated!
Here is a look at what we are up to this week:
We are working on multiplication with decimals. We need to wrap this up. We will begin our fact logs again next week, as some are simply struggling with facts. Please ensure that they are practicing.
We are beginning our unit on the 13 original colonies. We are also starting to work on the abbreviations and capitals of the states. I will give them the list soon, as well as setting up a Quizlet.
Reading: Working with paired passages-reading, annotating, answering questions, and writing
Grammar/Language: Reviewing figurative language; quiz on Friday
Vocabulary: List 1-4 given and test next week
Writer’s Workshop: We will begin fictional narratives soon.
All students must have one AR novel read by Feb. 13 and have AR test taken for a grade. Genre assigned is fantasy/science fiction for 1st half. 2nd half will be a choice of a mystery or a Newbery Award-winning book.
We will begin our new science unit next week.
