The Lion Cubs are learning about Advent. We now have our Advent wreath in our room and will be counting down the Sundays till Christmas. We are working on our Bible verse for December: “God so loved the world, that He gave his only Son so that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16.
We will be talking about Mary this week and her part in the Christmas story. We will also be telling the children about St. Nicholas. His feast day is Dec. 6. St. Nicholas was a priest and bishop. He was very generous and gave money to families that needed it. We now refer to him as Santa Claus.
Our school is having a Scholastic Book Fair this week and next. Please check it out and purchase some books for your child or for other children on your Christmas list. You may also buy books for our classroom. Ask Ms. Sargent about our wish list. 🙂
Our snack supply is getting a little bit low. We only have a few weeks until break, but if you would like to send in a box of crackers or a bag of pretzels it may help us get through until January and then we will begin a new list.
As the flu season is upon us, please remember to keep your child home if they have had fever or any other flu like symptoms. They must be fever or symptom free for 24 hours before they return to school.
Please remember to send their coats, hats and gloves to school with them. We will go out for recess if it is above 25 degrees wind chill.
Our last day of school this month is Thursday, Dec. 20, with a 1 p.m. dismissal. School resumes on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019.
Have a wonderful Advent!
