Happy Election Week!  Kindergarten voted in our own special election today…What to name our new class turkey (not real!).  The winning name for our pet turkey was Skeleton!

I will not be at school this Friday and next Monday.  My brother is getting married out of town this weekend, so I will be going to his wedding!  Mrs. Carnes just let me know that our sub will be Mrs. Poff.  She has a student that goes to St. Rose and has subbed before at our school.  Please talk to your child about being on his/her best behavior on Friday and Monday for our sub.  I will tell the children that if they get in trouble with her, they will be in double trouble with me when I get back 😉 Please contact Mrs. Carnes with any updates about transportation on these 2 days, as I may not be able to check my email.  Thank you!

Students who mastered sight words for September/October will eat lunch in our classroom with me on Wednesday.  We still have a few more to test.

Don’t forget to donate items for the Blessing Basket.  We still have many openings!  Please see the link below to sign up.  If you have signed up to send in things, you may send in non-perishable items anytime!  The deadline to send things in in 11/16.  Thank you!

Later this week, I will be sending home a small, take-home project.  Each child will get a feather to decorate in any way he/she chooses.  We will then combine the feathers at school to make a classroom turkey.  More info to come!

We are running low on hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes (or baby wipes), and paper towels.  If you have any, or see any good deals, please see some our way.  Thank you for your help!!!

Below please find some of the things we have been doing this week, and what we will be working on coming up:

Reading:  This week we are talking about turkeys.  We will talk about turkeys and all things Thanksgiving for the entire month of November.

We are going to start focusing on perfecting our handwriting.  Today we learned: “Some letters are small, some letters are tall, and some letters fall.”  If you would like paper to practice handwriting at home, please let me know!

Math:  We are working on writing numbers through the tricky teens.  I have also started introducing addition a little earlier than I had previously planned because a lot of students have showed me that they are ready.
