Happy Friday!

Kindergarten had a great week!  I have been super impressed with the Kindergarten writing that I have seen.  We have some great authors already!

We will begin assessing the September sight words the week of 9/24.  Please continue practicing sight words at home with your child.  If you need another list, let me know.  Thank you for your help!

If you have not yet submitted your Field Trip Permission slip, those are due on Monday, 9/24!

Mrs. Floyd will be sending out information about times for parent/teacher conferences soon.  If you cannot make the time/day for whatever reason, please let me know.  We can always schedule after or before school on another day/week.  I look forward to speaking to all of you at the conferences!

Below please find some of the things we have been doing this week and what we will be working on coming up:

Reading: We finished ABC bootcamp!  The students should now be able to sing the entire Zoo Phonics song.  Please continue practicing letter sounds at home.  Students will soon be able to sound out and spell simple Consonant, Vowel, Consonant (CVC) words like zip, bat, dog, etc.  Next week we will start working on word families.  Our word family next week is -at.  We will be learning about words that end in -at like bat, cat, hat, etc.

Also next week we will learn about Johnny Appleseed and read both fiction and non-fiction books about his story.

Math:  We did a number writing test this week.  Today, we took a test out of our Go Math books.  I will share these results with you at parent/teacher conferences.  We will start the next chapter in our Go Math books on Monday.
