The Lion Cubs have had a busy week.  We are practicing our Christmas songs for our parents. We are making decorations and Christmas surprises.  We have a Christmas tree in our room now!  The children helped decorate that on Monday.

St. Nicholas left some treats for the students on Wednesday!  When we came to school, there were little candy canes and stickers in our paper shoes!

The students are hearing the story of the first Christmas at school.  We read a little bit of it every day.  We also have many other Christmas books in our classroom that Mrs. Langferman checked out from the library.  The children like to sit and listen to stories!  It is the one time they actually sit still for 5 minutes!

In our calendar time, we have been counting the nametags to see how many students will be eating school lunch, how many carry a lunch box, and how many students go home after recess.  (We call this the “go home train”).  Then we count all the nametags that are on the board for attendance.  Mrs. Langferman writes the totals on the board so the students can actually see how to write the numbers as well as how to count them.

In our centers, we have been working on recognizing letters and numbers, small motor skills, puzzles and patterns.

Next week we will be continuing to talk about Advent and Christmas and continuing with our work in centers.

Remember to mark your calendar for Monday, Dec. 18 at 10 a.m.  We will be singing our Christmas songs for you in our classroom.  We are just inviting the parents because it will be in our classroom and not on the stage.

The Parent’s Organization, PRIDE, will be sponsoring a Santa Shop on Tuesday, Dec. 19 and Wed., Dec. 20.  If your child wants to participate, you may send in money and please send in a shopping list as well.  Gifts will range from $1 to $5.  If your child wants to shop for Mom, Dad, brother or sister, please give us a list and tell us how much  you would like to spend on each person.  Mrs. Richards and I plus parent volunteers will be there to help with the shopping.

A new snack list will be coming out for January through the end of the year. Thanks to all of you who have sent in snacks this semester!  It is greatly appreciated!

Upcoming dates to remember:  Last day of school before break is Thursday, Dec. 21.  Dismissal will be at 1 p.m.  School resumes on Tuesday, Jan. 9.

As always, if you have any questions at any time, please feel free to contact me at [email protected]

Thank you so much!

Mrs. Langferman
