3rd Grade Weekly Wave
RELIGION – We will have a test on Wednesday over Chapters 5 & 6. This test will cover the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. Check out tomorrow’s email for Test Hints. Our next chapter will have us looking at how Jesus teaches us to Love. We will also talk about St. Louise de Marillac.
**The girls are now allowed to wear pants as part of their Mass Uniform! We will carry this through the winter months until Spring Break!
SPELLING – Our words this week will be words with the /ur/sound (turns, first, herds, earn, and worth) We will have a test on Wednesday and Friday. There will be NO spelling test next week due to Thanksgiving! Please see the link below for the list of words this week.
READING – This week our story is called “Sand Dunes.” We will be working on vocabulary, cause and effect, and library skills. We will also look at multiple meaning words. Our test will be Friday! No reading test next week due to Thanksgiving!
GRAMMAR /VOCAB. – We will be working on past-tense verbs and how to use commas to separate words in Grammar this week. We will also be working on writing Thanksgiving stories!
MATH – We are continuing to work on our multiplication unit in math. This week, we will be working on the distributive property, the associative property, multiplying by 7 and 8, and using a multiplication table to find patterns that will help us learn our facts. Next week I hope to look at multiplying by 9 and problem solving with multiplication!
Keep working on those Multiplication Sundae slips! We have added a few more bowls to our board, and one student is very close to earning that cherry on top!
SCIENCE – Our next chapter will have us talking about the “relationships among living things.” We will look at ecosystems, food chains and food webs, and the different roles of plants and animals.
SOCIAL STUDIES – We will focus on Science for a few weeks.

SNOW DAYS/DELAYS AND DRESS CODE (from Mrs. Floyd)
As stated at Back to School Nights, we will follow Franklin Community School closings and delays. We will make sure to send an email, text (if you have it set up in Jupiter) and our phone message will relay the news. Franklin Schools will post on regular TV stations (ABC, NBC, CBS).
Also, this is a reminder to please check the Handbook for clarification on dress code. Please make sure your child/ren are wearing a belt for grades 4 -8, girls are wearing the correct plaid (solid color skirts, skorts, and jumpers are not allowed), Mass uniforms must be worn on Thursdays (see handbook for exact specifications), socks should be visible and the correct color (blue, khaki, white or black). All regulations are listed in the handbook which can be found on our website. If you have any questions, let us know.
