October 30, 2017

I want to thank all of you for coming to the parent teacher conferences last week.  I can’t tell you enough how thankful I am to work with such a great group of kiddos and their amazing families!  I appreciate you all more than you know! 😊

I told many of you during conferences that I would send home resources for your child to work on at home.  These may include number or letter tracing papers, flash cards, etc.  If you need any of these resources, please let me know.   If I told you I would be sending those home, those will be in your Friday folders this week! 😊

We are having our Halloween Party tomorrow at 1:30!  If you volunteered to help, you should have received an email from me with more details.  If you would like to come to join in on the party fun, you may meet us in our classroom at 1:30.  You may come early if you would like to help your child change into a costume (no makeup please).  If you would like to do so, you may arrive at 1:20.  Tomorrow will be a NUT day.  Your child can arrive at school wearing orange or black.  They can then change into their costume before the party starts.  The costume change is optional.

We will have Mass on Wednesday this week for All Saints Day.  Therefore, there will be no Mass on Thursday this week.  Friday is Spirit Day!

I will be sending out information about the Thanksgiving Blessing Basket soon.  If you are new to St. Rose, each class prepares Thanksgiving Blessing Baskets for families in need in our community.  We will use Sign-Up Genius for donation sign ups.  More info to come!

A reminder for the cold weather—students are no longer allowed to wear shorts again until after Spring Break.  We go outside for recess unless the temperature goes below 25 degrees.  Please make sure your child is dressing for the weather and has a coat.  Thank you!

Important Dates:

10/31 Halloween NUT day.  Students may wear black, orange or a Halloween shirt.  Our Halloween Party begins @ 1:30. Students can bring their costumes (no make-up please) to change into before the party if they’d like.  All are welcome to attend the party.

11/1 Mass @ 8:30 for All Saints Day.  No Mass on Thursday this week.  Students need to wear mass uniforms on Wednesday.

11/2 PRIDE meeting at 6:30 p.m.

11/3 Spirit Day!!!

Here is what we are working on this week:

Reading/Phonics:

With our busy week last week, we didn’t quite finish all of our spider and bat material.  We will finish that up and also begin talking about pumpkins!

Our color of the week is white.  Our two popcorn words are “you” and “for.”

Our letter of the week is Ff.

Please work with your child at home to ensure that they have mastered the following words:

Jesus, God, blue, can, I, red, the, we, yellow, like, green, a, to, and, see, play, purple, orange, go, is, pink, brown, black, have, you, for

Math: Represent and compare numbers 1-10.

Writing: Drawing real life pictures with 3-star coloring (colors make sense, no white spaces, staying in the lines) and using labels.  We are working on sounding out words.

Looking forward to another great week in Kindergarten! 😊
