We have another busy and exciting week ahead of us in Kindergarten!
Tomorrow is our Field Trip to The Apple Works! If you are going to chaperone, please wait in the Atrium in the morning while we complete our morning duties in the classroom. Please try to get to school by 8:15. The bus will be leaving at 8:25 a.m., and we will be returning to school at 11:30 a.m. to have our lunch. Your child does not have to dress in uniform tomorrow! Please have your child dress appropriately for the weather with shoes that you don’t mind getting a little dirty. 😊
We will be learning all about APPLES this week! We will be doing apple taste tests, apple observations, and on Friday we will work together to make applesauce. If you would like to donate a few apples for our applesauce, that would be much appreciated! Just send them in with your child by Thursday of this week. THANK YOU!
A few other reminders…
- Wednesday, Oct. 11, will be our NUT Day for Cancer Awareness. Students may come out of uniform for a donation to the American Cancer Society, but they must wear something with pink or purple.
- After Fall Break, shorts are no longer allowed to be worn to school. Students can wear shorts again after we return from Spring Break.
- Parent teacher conferences will take place after Fall Break. By now, you should have received a letter telling you the date and time of your conference. Please let me know if you have any questions about conferences.
- Our Halloween Party will be on Halloween at 1:30 p.m. More information will be coming soon!
We will continue testing for our first report card this week. We will be testing sight words, letters and letter sounds, number writing, counting, etc. Please continue working on popcorn words (sight words) and letter sounds at home, especially if your child is struggling with these! If you need anything to help you practice at home, including a list of our sight words or flash cards please let me know!
Here is what we are working on this week:
Our theme is APPLES. We will be reading lots of apple books and doing many different apple activities. All other skills will be reviewed in preparation for our report card.
Please work with your child at home to ensure that they have mastered the following words:
Jesus, God, blue, can, I, red, the, we, yellow, like, green, a, to, and, see, play, purple, orange, go, is, pink, brown
Represent, count, and write numbers 6-9. Counting to 100 by ones and tens. Writing numbers correctly from 0-20.
Drawing real life pictures with 3-star coloring (colors make sense, no white spaces, staying in the lines) and using labels. We will begin sounding out words.
Looking forward to another great week in Kindergarten! 😊
