         3rd Grade  Weekly Wave

RELIGION   We will finish up Chapter 4 this week with a test on Tuesday!  Test Hints can be found in Monday’s daily email.  We will then work on the Unit 1 Review in class.

**Don’t forget students should wear Mass Uniform on mass days!   Mass Uniforms are the plaid skirt or jumper
(NO PANTS) with a white shirt for the girls.  The boys’ uniforms are blue pants and white shirt.   

ONLY MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS are allowed to wear pants for Mass all year!  The lower grade will be allowed during the winter months.

 SPELLING –   Our words this week have /thr/, /scr/, /spr/, and /str/ (thread, scrubs, spree, stream). Our spelling tests will be on Wednesday and Thursday due to our field trip on Friday.

Week 7-9

READING  This week we will read “Planets in our Solar System.”  We will work on vocabulary, summarizing, main idea and supporting details, as well as comprehension.  Our test will be on Thursday!

GRAMMAR /VOCAB.This week in Grammar we will work on possessive nouns.  We will not do a lesson in our Vocabulary books.  We will instead be working on some writing activities. 

MATH  Since we are quickly approaching Fall Break, and we will be gone one day this week for our field trip, we are going to use this week as a review week.  We will be looking at rounding, writing numbers in expanded, word, and standard form, adding and subtracting with subtraction across zeros, place value, and graphs.  When we return from break, we will start on Chapter 3…Multiplication.   

SCIENCE –  We are working our way through Chapter 2 this week.  We will be talking about the needs of animals, how animals grow, parts of animals, and different kinds of animals. I would like to have a test on Wednesday, but will have to see if we are ready!
**Animal Report are due WEDNESDAY, OCT. 11!!  

SOCIAL STUDIES –   We will be ready for our next chapter in Social Studies when we come back from Fall Break!

ZOO FIELD TRIP- IMPORTANT INFORMATION!!!
We are going to the Zoo on Friday!  Please be sure to your child dresses in layers for the weather!  Also, if you are planning on going, we will be leaving around 8:30.  If you are going with us, please meet us in the PLC or the Atrium.  EVERYONE going needs to bring a sack lunch and drink!  I would ask that you NOT buy food at the zoo.  We will all be eating together for lunch.  We will have some time in the gift shop, but it is between child and parents how much, if any, money is brought!  Don’t forget to count in tax!
ONE LAST REMINDER –If you are planning on going with us, you MUST have the Safe and Sacred Program completed!

 

HALLOWEEN PARTY –
Here is who signed up to help at the Halloween Party!  Our Party will be on Tuesday, Oct. 31.  As you can see, we need a few volunteers for Games and/or Crafts!  Any takers…let me know!

SNOW DAYS/DELAYS AND DRESS CODE (from Mrs. Floyd)

As stated at Back to School Nights, we will follow Franklin Community School closings and delays. We will make sure to send an email, text (if you have it set up in Jupiter) and our phone message will relay the news. Franklin Schools will post on regular TV stations (ABC, NBC, CBS).

Also, this is a reminder to please check the Handbook for clarification on dress code. Please make sure your child/ren are wearing a belt for grades 4 -8, girls are wearing the correct plaid (solid color skirts, skorts, and jumpers are not allowed), Mass uniforms must be worn on Thursdays (see handbook for exact specifications), socks should be visible and the correct color (blue, khaki, white or black). All regulations are listed in the handbook which can be found on our website. If you have any questions, let us know.

**SCHOOL/HOMEWORK – Please make sure your child is doing his/her school work AND turning it in on time!  I have a few students who have not been completing work that is sent home to complete!  It will make a big difference in their grades on their report cards! Please let me know if you have any questions!

**PE NOTE – We will be changing clothes for PE on Thursday and Friday each week.  Please be sure students have shorts and a shirt along with the appropriate shoes for PE.
