         3rd Grade  Weekly Wave

RELIGION   I would like to have a test on Wednesday over Chapter 3!  Watch for TEST HINTS to come home in the email on Tuesday afternoon!  The 3rd grade class will be doing the readings for Mass this week!  Be sure to ask your child if they have a reading part.  Parts will be coming home today (Monday)!  Hope you can join us for Mass!

**Don’t forget students should wear Mass Uniform on mass days!   Mass Uniforms are the plaid skirt or jumper
(NO PANTS) with a white shirt for the girls.  The boys’ uniforms are blue pants and white shirt.

ONLY MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS are allowed to wear pants for Mass all year!  The lower grade will be allowed during the winter months.

SPELLING –   Our words this week have the /ch/ sound (chick, much, pitch).  Our tests will be Wednesday and Friday!  Be sure to check out the new list of words for the next few weeks!  Click on the link below!

Week 7-9

READING  This week we will read “Wolf.”  We will look at vocabulary, comprehension, fantasy vs. reality, and multiple meaning words.

GRAMMAR /VOCAB. – In Grammar, we will work on singular and plural nouns, as well as proofreading sentences.  In our Vocabulary books, we will work on Lesson 3 – Adjectives.

MATH  We are still working our way through Chapter 2 in our Math books.  We are working on collecting data and learning about different types of graphs that we can use to display that information.  We will most likely have a test over this chapter early next week.

Please work on simple math facts at home.  Right now our focus will be on addition and subtraction.  We will soon be talking about multiplication and division as well!

SCIENCE –  My plan is to start our next chapter by the end of this week.  In Chapter 2 we will talk about Animals.  We will look at the needs of Animals, how animals grow, parts of animals, and different kinds of animals.

SOCIAL STUDIES –   We will have a test on Tuesday over Chapter 1.  I will send home test hints in Monday’s daily email!

Wednesday, Sept. 27 – Trash Bag Orders are due!
Thursday, Sept. 28 – 3rd Grade Mass – 8:30 am

**Don’t forget there is an OPERATION BUNDLE UP collection box in the Atrium!  Please look to see if you have any new or gently used coats that can be donated!

As stated at Back to School Nights, we will follow Franklin Community School closings and delays. We will make sure to send an email, text (if you have it set up in Jupiter) and our phone message will relay the news. Franklin Schools will post on regular TV stations (ABC, NBC, CBS).

Also, this is a reminder to please check the Handbook for clarification on dress code. Please make sure your child/ren are wearing a belt for grades 4 -8, girls are wearing the correct plaid (solid color skirts, skorts and jumpers are not allowed), Mass uniforms must be worn on Thursdays (see handbook for exact specifications), socks should be visible and the correct color (blue, khaki, white or black). All regulations are listed in the handbook which can be found on our website. If you have any questions, let us know.

**SCHOOL/HOMEWORK – We have been in school a little over a month now, and for the most part the students are doing a great job of completing and turning in their work.  However, I have a few missing assignments from a few students.  They usually tell me their parents took it out of their folder and they left it at home :). If you notice in their Assignment Notebooks that they are missing an assignment, please be sure to ask them about it or check with me for clarification.

GOLDEN TICKETS REWARD SYSTEM – Please click on the link below to read my letter that explains our Golden Ticket Reward System.  Please let me know if you have any questions.
