         3rd Grade  Weekly Wave

RELIGION   We will be working our way through Chapter 3 this week!  Not sure if our test will be this week or first thing next!  Stay tuned! 🙂
It will be our turn again to do the Mass on Sept. 28!  Readings and parts will come home at the end of this week or first thing next week.

**Don’t forget students should wear Mass Uniform on mass days!   Mass Uniforms are the plaid skirt or jumper
(NO PANTS) with a white shirt for the girls.  The boys’ uniforms are blue pants and white shirt.

ONLY MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS are allowed to wear pants for Mass all year!  The lower grade will be allowed during the winter months.

SPELLING –   This week our words have Long /e/ sounds (heel, sealed, field).  We will test on Wednesday and Friday this week!  Please see the link below for the list of words!

Spelling week 4-6

READING  This week we will read “The Strongest One” in our Reading book.  We will be working on concepts such as summarizing, photos and captions, comprehension, and vocabulary.

GRAMMAR /VOCAB. – We will work on our Vocabulary book Lesson 2 this week.  We will be talking about opposites.  In Grammar, we will look at common and proper nouns.

MATH  So, I am not sure where I got the idea that our next chapter is on multiplication, but I was wrong! 🙂  We are going to start on Chapter 2 which has us learning about Data and Data Collecting!  We will look at problem-solving and organizing information, picture graphs, bar graphs, using the data collected, and making and using line plots!

Please work on simple math facts at home.  Right now our focus will be on addition and subtraction.  We will soon be talking about multiplication and division as well!

SCIENCE –  We will focus on Social Studies for the next few weeks!

SOCIAL STUDIES –   We will continue to work our way through Chapter 1.  We are talking about why people choose to live in a community and how we get along with others in our community.  We also talked about the people we find in a community, such as police officers, firefighters, doctors, nurses, and teachers. We may be ready for a test at the end of the week, but we will have to see how things go!  Keep watching!

As stated at Back to School Nights, we will follow Franklin Community School closings and delays. We will make sure to send an email, text (if you have it set up in Jupiter) and our phone message will relay the news. Franklin Schools will post on regular TV stations (ABC, NBC, CBS).

Also, this is a reminder to please check the Handbook for clarification on dress code. Please make sure your child/ren are wearing a belt for grades 4 -8, girls are wearing the correct plaid (solid color skirts, skorts and jumpers are not allowed), Mass uniforms must be worn on Thursdays (see handbook for exact specifications), socks should be visible and the correct color (blue, khaki, white or black). All regulations are listed in the handbook which can be found on our website. If you have any questions, let us know.

**SCHOOL/HOMEWORK – We have been in school a little over a month now, and for the most part the students are doing a great job of completing and turning in their work.  However, I have a few missing assignments from a few students.  They usually tell me their parents took it out of their folder and they left it at home :). If you notice in their Assignment Notebooks that they are missing an assignment, please be sure to ask them about it or check with me for clarification.

GOLDEN TICKETS REWARD SYSTEM – Please click on the link below to read my letter that explains our Golden Ticket Reward System.  Please let me know if you have any questions.
