The Lion Cubs had a great first full week of school.  We had so much fun with our transportation unit.  We played with little cars on a ramp.  We made school buses, trains and cars out of construction paper.  We played with boxes and pretended they were cars, train cars and boats!  In our centers we built with blocks and played letter and color bingo.

Next week we will talk about our five senses.  On Monday, with the eclipse, we will talk about dark and light.  That also ties in with the Genesis story we’ve been reading!  We will also explore how things feel and use words that describe them–soft, hard, cool, warm, smooth, bumpy.  We will talk about taste and smell, too.  For the sense of hearing we will listen to some music that has soft and loud sounds.

It was so good to see so many of you at Back to School night! We are really enjoying your children.  We know many of them are having separation issues, but it does get better!   If they are sick , please keep them home, but if they are just crying about not wanting to come, it would be best to be consistent and bring them to school as planned.

Remember: MONDAY IS A LATER DISMISSAL for those that usually stay all day.  The school will be dismissed at 3:20 p.m. due to the eclipse.  We will keep your children inside during the eclipse and make sure they do not look at the sun directly.  Please come to the main entrance and pick your preschool child up as usual.  Then go to the parking lot and wait for the regular dismissal if you have older children to pick up.  Thank you for  your patience and cooperation with this matter.

As always, if you have questions, please email me at [email protected] or Mrs. Richards at  [email protected]

God bless!

Mrs. Langferman and Mrs. Richards
