It was so WONDERFUL to see my returning Kindergarten students from last year as we embark on this new journey together in First Grade! I hope the children are just as excited as I am!   I’ve only called them Kindergarteners a few times, but believe me, they are quick to correct me.  🙂   We were especially happy to welcome 3 new students.  What a nice addition  Juan-Carlos, Harmony & Karlieann are to our class!  We are off to a great start already!  This week we will continue getting used to our new routines and procedures.  Below is a preview of some of the things we’ll be doing this week.

Phonics:

This week we will begin Saxon Phonics (initial letter sounds “n, short & long o”).  More information to come at Back To School Night.

Reading:

We will begin our Reading Series next week.  The children were excited to find out that they will begin taking their reading books home next week for “homework” (stay tuned for more information at BTSN)!

Math:

We will begin our Math books next week!  This week we’re reviewing and sharpening up on some skills to make sure we didn’t leave the skills we learned last year on summer break! 🙂

Religion:

Chapter 1:  Jesus Is Our Friend.   Be sure to ask your 1st grade student on Tuesday to show you what we made to help explain what we learned about the Assumption.
