Where did this year go? I cannot believe I am writing my last newsletter for the school year and my last Kindergarten newsletter.  It seems like just yesterday you and your children were coming in to “check out” our Kindergarten room. I cannot THANK ALL OF YOU enough for your continued support and all you have done to help this to be a SUCCESSFUL year! I know I don’t have to tell you this, but you should be VERY PROUD of your children.   What a GREAT group of children I have been BLESSED with again this year. They have worked so hard and have grown so much, academically, spiritually and physically. They deserve a BIG PAT ON THE BACK! I am looking forward to being with them again next year in first grade!  I hope they are as excited as I am.   I am looking forward to watching them continue to grow and learn over the next eight years here at St. Rose School.   CONGRATULATIONS ON A JOB WELL DONE!

 Reminders:

*5/27  Mass at 4:30 p.m.

*5/28  Mass at 8:00 and 11:00 a.m.

*5/29  NO SCHOOL/Memorial Day

*5/30  I will be leaving at 10:45 Tuesday morning to attend my son’s field trip.  YAY, I get to be mom again. 🙂  It’s very rare that I get the chance to attend my kiddos field trips so I’m looking forward to it.  Mrs. Salazar will be subbing for me on Tuesday.  If you have any changes in your child’s after school plans, please let Mrs. Carnes ([email protected]or Mrs. Salazar ([email protected]) know.  Thank you!

*5/31  Last Day of School:  Mass at 8:30 (All are welcome!), Honor’s Day at noon and dismissal at 1:00 (there will be NO EXTENDED CARE OR BUS SERVICE).  Report cards will come home on Wednesday.  If you plan on attending Honor’s Day, PLEASE park using our “dismissal format” (rows) to help dismissal run smoothly.  I’m sure all of us will be anxious to begin summer break, but safety first!  Thanks in advance!

*6/17  St. Rose Parish Work Day 9 a.m.-3 p.m.   Please consider helping if you are available.  Any help you can give will be appreciated, even if you can’t stay all day.  For more information, click on the following attachment:  Campus Pride DayAnnc2017 .   Thanks in advance for your help!

*Be sure to sign up for Vacation Bible School at St. Rose this summer during the week of July 17-21  (9 a.m. until noon every day).  It’s always a fun-filled week!  Please register by July 10th.  The cost is $20 per family for the week.  Registration forms for children 3 years (potty trained; no diapers) through 5th grade can be found on the church website or at the church doors.  You won’t want to miss it!  It’s a great way for the children to get to be with their parish and school family over the summer!  If you have any questions, please contact Julie Haney at 317-736-6754.

*Be sure to check out the summer reading program at the library.  For more information, click on the following attachment: JCPL Summer Learning Program Promo  Registration has already started, let the reading begin!  The Franklin Library has so much to offer!  Be sure to join the fun at the Summer Kick Off Party SLP-Kick-Off-Party .

THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

*Thanks to all who sent in donations for our Kindergarten reception!  I truly appreciate your help!

*Thanks to all who helped with field day in any way!  We couldn’t do it without our volunteers!

*THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR A GREAT YEAR AND FOR ALL YOU DO TO MAKE ST. ROSE THE BEST!

SUMMER SUGGESTIONS:

*THANK GOD EVERY DAY! PRAY!

*PLAY, PLAY, PLAY (don’t forget your safety rules).

*Wear sunscreen, helmets and lifejackets.

*Visit the library for books & fun activities!  Join the summer reading program!

*Review letters/sounds, numbers and “popcorn words” (sidewalk chalk is fun for practicing in the summer).

*PLAY, PLAY, PLAY some more (board games, card games as well as dice games are GREAT for following directions, listening skills, problem solving, counting, taking turns etc.)

*Review address, phone # & DOB. This is something we often forget to review with our children. Be able to tie those shoes for 1st grade too!

*And most importantly, don’t forget my FAVORITE RECIPE (see below).  I can’t STRESS enough how reading (being read to counts) EVERY DAY makes such a DIFFERENCE!

**If you are looking for specific ways to help your child in particular areas, please let me know and I can give you some suggestions for your child on an individual basis**.

MRS. BORING’S FAVORITE RECIPE:

RECIPE FOR LITERACY

1 relaxed child, bathed, fed and at peace with the world
1 book of colorful pictures and/or a good story
1 accommodating parental lap, complete with owner who enjoys the book and shows it in his face, voice, and whole self.

These are to be combined and taken every evening with no interruptions allowed.

HAVE A WONDERFUL SUMMER!   MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!
