Valentine’s Day Party Information:
Our Valentine’s Day party will be Tuesday, February 14th from 1:30-2:30. Thanks to everyone that signed up at “Back To School Night” to help: Mrs. Marshall/Snack, Mrs. Goins/Juice Boxes and Mrs. Bowker/Napkins. We are still in need of a craft or game. Please consider helping with a craft or game if you didn’t get a chance to at one of our other holiday parties. (Pinterest is a good resource 🙂 ) If you are able to help with this, please send me an e-mail ASAP. This will be our last holiday party of the school year. All are welcome to attend! The children are allowed to bring in Valentines for all of their classmates if they would like to. A class list came home in last week’s Friday folder. Please have your child write the names of their classmates (if they haven’t already done so). This gives them good handwriting practice and helps them to recognize their classmates’ names as well. I would encourage them to write a few a day and not try to attempt the whole class list in one sitting. We don’t want to frustrate them, just give them some extra writing practice and name recognition practice. Please be sure the children have their Valentines with them on Tuesday morning. It takes too long for the “little ones” to hand them out during the party so we do this part in the morning. The children are allowed to wear jeans and a Valentine’s Day shirt the day of the party (red/pink/purple shirts are fine).
Haven was our STAR student this week! She was born on February 1, 2011. Haven was very excited to finally get her chance to be our STAR! Her pink poster board was filled with lots of pictures of her family and things she enjoys doing. She couldn’t wait to tell us all about the pictures and show us her name spelled out in sparkly, glitter paint letters! She started by showing us a picture of her family that was taken at Kings Island. The class couldn’t figure out why the picture looked so old fashion, said “Wanted Dead or Alive” and why Haven’s mom, dad & little brother all looked so serious. Especially since Haven looked so happy. Haven let the class know it was just a silly picture and it was not real. She couldn’t keep a straight face in the picture like the rest of her family. 🙂 Haven loves going to Kings Island and Cedar Point. She told us she LOVES riding roller coasters because they go really fast. She even puts her hands up! Now that’s brave! Haven enjoys being outside with her family whether they are taking walks, riding in her brother’s motorized jeep, going in caves at Rock City, waving at deer in the woods or going on a hiking trail. She just loves the outdoors. She especially likes to help her dad on the excavator. She said it’s really fun! Haven likes playing in her pool and on her “slip n’ slide” with her brother, AJ and her friends Adrian and Baby Ella. She likes getting to go with her mom to the “earring place” to pick out new earrings. Haven also likes to go to the museum and she enjoys going to the park with her Mamaw and Papaw too. Haven loves being a big sister to AJ. However, she did tell us that at first she wasn’t too happy and said “what did you bring him for?” when her Mamaw put AJ on her lap at the hospital. 🙂 It’s evident when we see her with AJ at school that she LOVES her little brother a lot! Haven’s favorite color is pink. Thanks for sharing, Haven!
Happy Birthday to our Kindergarten students that have February birthdays OR 1/2 birthdays: Haven, Brooklyn, Aidan, Linden & Teddy (1/2 Birthday)! If you would like to read your Kindergarten student’s favorite book in honor of their birthday, please send me an e-mail so we can set up a day and time. If your child’s birthday falls on a weekend, we can pick a day close to the date. We love having guests come share the gift of reading with our Kindergarten class! 🙂 We’ve had a few guests already this year and the children really enjoy it! If you can’t make it in to read, feel free to send in their favorite book and I’ll read it to the class.

ASK ME ABOUT…
…the sound for “K” and some words that begin with the “K” sound (this can be tricky since “c & k” sound the same). See if I can “sound spell” some “K” words.
