The fruit of the Spirit for January is GENTLENESS!
Here’s this week’s update for each class…
6th Grade continues their study of Moses (there is a LOT of information about Moses in the Old Testament!) This week’s focus will still mainly be on the Ten Commandments. Students will review from the last chapter on Monday, and take a quiz on Tuesday. Reminder: 6th grade journals are due every Friday. BTW, so far most of this 6th grade class has been doing a great job of writing in their journals and turning them in on time!
7th Graders had some great discussions last week on “The Message of Jesus: Choose Life,” but did not yet finish the chapter, so we will continue it this week. As I wrote last week, this chapter discusses several sensitive moral issues including abortion, suicide, euthanasia, violence, war, and capital punishment. The focus is on making sure the students understand what the Catholic Church teaches on these topics. If you wish to preview this chapter, it is presented on pages 103-110 in the workbook. Feel free to contact me if you have any concerns about the material being presented. Reminder: 7th grade journals are due this Friday.
8th Graders continue their study of Saint Paul, his ministry, his travels, his writings, and the amazing way he lived his life, as described in the Acts of the Apostles. The Feast of Saint Paul’s conversion is celebrated this Wednesday, January 25. We will also cover the first Church Council (the Council of Jerusalem), which determined that non-Jewish converts to Christianity must follow the commandments, but did not have to follow all of the other Jewish laws.
