HIP, HIP, HOORAY, KINDERGARTEN IS CELEBRATING THE 100th day!
The children are really looking forward to our 100th day of school celebration on Friday, January 27th. I can’t wait to see their 100th day creations. I hear many of the students have been working hard on this homework! The Kindergarten class can come out of uniform next Friday (1/27) if they are wearing a 100th day creation (necklace, shirt, hat, etc.). We will be doing an activity with our 8th grade buddies as well as many other activities, including our 100th day snack. Thanks to those who have signed up to send in items for this special snack! We are still in need of a few items. If you are able to contribute, please let me know ASAP. I will need all snack items by next Thursday. Just a reminder, if your child is able to count to 100 by the 100th day of school (not mandatory by next Friday; just a challenge), they will receive a special certificate and treat! I’ve had several students tell me they are up for the challenge instead of waiting until I assess goal sheets next month. WOW! I may start checking this next Wednesday or Thursday depending on how many students are up for the challenge since we will be very busy on Friday.
- I can recite the Our Father:
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against
us. And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.
2. I can count to 100 by 1’s and 10’s
(Challenge: by 2’s and/OR 5’s).
3. I can name the 12 months of the year
in order (Challenge: I can READ the
12 months of the year in random
4. I know the sound for EVERY letter of
the alphabet; including long and short vowel sounds (Although we do a “letter of the week,” we review all of
the letter sounds on a regular basis.).
**I will begin assessing January/February goals the 2nd week of February. Please be sure you are practicing with your child! If you would like for your child to do the challenges, please be sure to note this in their Friday folder if you haven’t already done so. Thank you!**

We met a lot of new families last year and we were happy to welcome them this year to be part of our St. Rose family! Please help us spread the word! Our Kindergarten Bound Class was FULL this year! *1/29-2/3 Catholic School’s Week (stay tuned for all of the upcoming events, it’s a fun-filled week).
*2/3 Punk-N-Rock; Mark your calendar for this St. Rose tradition. Our 7th & 8th graders put on a GREAT lip sync/variety show for all to enjoy! You won’t want to miss it! PRIDE sponsors a chili supper before the show. The Kindergarten students always look forward to seeing their 8th grade buddies on stage!
*Upcoming Stars: 1/23-1/27 Maggie; 1/30-2/3 Brooklyn; 2/6-2/10 Haven; 2/13-2/17 Aidan.
*The students are doing a GREAT job with the surprise bucket! WOW! I’m impressed with the sentences they’ve been writing (and reading), especially since it’s just the 1st week. They are doing a great job coming up with clues!
*If at any time you need ideas or suggestions to help your child at home, please don’t hesitate to ask.
*Students need to wear tennis shoes every Monday and Tuesday for PE. A few girls have been wearing “casual dress” boots on PE days. Please be sure they save those for days other than PE days. They aren’t the safest to run around in and they aren’t always good for the PLC floor. Thanks for your help in reminding them!
*Library books are due every Friday.
*Students should be practicing their “popcorn words” a few times a week as well as reading the “mini sight word readers” they bring home. I have encouraged the children to keep all of these books for practice. Many of the students are reading these without hesitation now. Keep up the good work!
*Now that winter is here (even though we’ve had some spring like days), there is always a possibility of school closings or delays. Please note that St. Rose follows Franklin Community School for cancellations and delays. When delays or cancellations occur, they will be announced on local stations (CBS, ABC and NBC) under ‘Franklin Community Schools’. St. Rose will also send out an email through Jupiter. On the morning of, you may call the school office at 738-3451 to verify any delays or cancellations.
*Please be sure you are checking out the St. Rose website frequently to keep up to date on all that is going on at St. Rose School.
THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
*Thanks to all who participated in the “Dine to Donate” at Hoosier Brewhouse on Wednesday night! It sounds like there was a good turn out!
*Thanks in advance for your help with our 100th day snack!
*Thanks for helping with our daily snacks!
