December 5-December 9

Religion– All things Advent. Please share the Advent Chain nightly. It is a great way to put CHRIST back in CHRISTmas.  We are working on an Advent study guide and we will be adding to it as the days go on.   We will have several assignments over the guide before the 18th so it would be smart to study nightly. The 18th we will have our Advent Assessment. Please help you child study.

We are in charge of the Mass this Thursday December 8th. If your child has a part they are bringing them home today. Please practice.

Math from the desk of Miss Hammond: We have completed the lessons in Chapter 7 so that means a review and test this week! I plan to test students on Wednesday on multiplying greater numbers. We spent most of last week playing review BINGO to make sure we had the process down. Today we will do the review sets in the book. In extra time, please have your child practice multiplication/division fast facts!

Science:  We are studying systems in the body.   We have highlighted several pages. Have you helped study any of those pages? We will have an assessment on Thursday December 8th. Pages 4 through 13 to be exact. Remember a little studying each night prevents a lot of cramming in one day.

Social Studies: What do you know about the mound builders from Indiana?  Your child knows plenty.  Ask them to tell you about them.  Please check the planner for homework. Assessment coming Friday December 9th. The best way to make sure your child is ready is to study the highlighted parts on the newspaper.

Reading ; We have finished Frindle. This is a very wonderful story and I recommend it to anyone who needs a feel good heart warming read. Coming to a classroom near you soon…informational text. Ask you precious one what that might look like.

Language Arts: We have started a poetry unit. We will be learning all there is to know about diamantes, haikus, bio poems, acrostics, couplets, cinquains, limericks, shape poems, color poems, and free verse. This week we will tackle the haiku, bio poem and the acrostic.
