December is here!  Lion Cubs are hearing the story of the first Christmas at school.  This week we talked about how the angel visited Mary and asked her to be the Mother of Jesus.  She said, “Yes!”   We made angels for you to decorate with at home.

Next week  we will talk about St. Nicholas.  His feast day is Wed., Dec. 6.  We will put out a “paper shoe” and see if he visits our classroom!

The Book Fair is coming to St. Rose next week.  Lion Cub students do not go to the Book Fair but parents are welcome to come in and purchase books and other items from the Book Fair.  The proceeds go the the school library to purchase more books for our school.  This is a great way to do some Christmas shopping without the hassle of going to the mall!  Just check the Know News for times.

Tuesday evening, Dec. 6, at 6:30 p.m. is also our PRIDE meeting. Come meet other parents and see how you can help support our school at these meetings.

We have plenty of snacks for the rest of the semester, so if you think you are on the list to bring in snacks, don’t worry!  We will have a new list beginning in January.  Christmas break begins on Wed. Dec. 21 at 1 p.m. and school resumes on Monday, Jan. 9.

Thursday, Dec. 15, is the School Christmas Program.  This includes the Middle School Band and Choir (including 5th grade) as well all students in Kindergarten through Grade 5.  The KB Christmas program is on Friday, Dec. 16 at 2 p.m.  Lion Cubs do not perform for a Christmas program.  We are learning many of the songs and hopefully if you ask them to, they will sing one of them for you at home!

We will have a little “Christmas party” for the Lion Cubs on the morning of Dec. 21.  If you want to send in a snack or drink for that day, just let me know.  Although we are stressing healthy snacks for the normal days, we could maybe have donuts (or donut holes) or small sugar cookies (no cupcakes, please)! Some apple juice would be good.

Thanks for sending in warm jackets or coats and gloves and hats for your child to wear at recess.  Unless it is below 25 degrees wind chill, we will be going outside.  The kids need to have a chance to run off some of their energy!

God bless you this Advent Season!  Take some time to do something together as a family!  Take some time to go to church and/or attend the Advent Parish Mission which will be every night this next week at 7 p.m. or at 9 .m. in the mornings.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!
