HAPPY NEW YEAR!
No I have not lost my mind. Please ask your precious one why we are celebrating the New Year now!
First I need to apologize. This has been sitting in my file since Monday. I thought I had posted it but a very nice lady let me know she had not seen it. Thank you nice lady.
I also need to share a couple of changes to our procedures. When I stop and have the children pack up they are not filling out their planners. If I take time to check each planner it cuts down on instructional time, so I prefer the children organize themselves and get this done. The homework is posted on the board daily and they need to copy it and have you sign it. I post it I need you to please sign it. The children know where to have you sign. I sure hope this helps get assignments completed because most of the time our homework piggybacks into an activity we will do the next day and if your child hasn’t completed it, it is a burden on the rest of us. PLEASE HELP US MAKE OUR ROOM BURDEN FREE!
Religion– All things Advent. Please share the Advent Chain nightly. It is a great way to put CHRIST back in CHRISTmas. We are working on an Advent study guide and we will be adding to it as the days go on. We will have several assignments over the guide before the 18th so it would be smart to study nightly.
We are in charge of the Mass this Thursday December 8th. Parts will be passed out Monday the 5th please practice.
Math: We have been working on two digit by two digit multiplication. We are also using problem-solving stratgeies to decide if our answers are reasonable. As we get this skill down, we will move forward to three digit numbers by two digit numbers. This chapter is quite lengthy. We are only about half way through it! Remember to practice multiplication/division fast facts in spare time!
Science: We are studying systems in the body. We have highlighted several pages. Have you helped study any of those pages? We will have an assessment on Thursday December 8th. Pages 4 through 13 to be exact. Remember a little studying each night prevents a lot of cramming in one day.
Social Studies: What do you know about the mound builders from Indiana? Your child knows plenty. Ask them to tell you about them. Assessment coming Friday December 9th. The best way to make sure your child is ready is to study the highlighted parts on the newspaper.
Reading ; We will finish Frindle and do some end of the book activities. Coming to a classroom near you soon…informational text. Ask you precious one what that might look like.
Language Arts: We have started a poetry unit. We will be learning all there is to know about diamantes, haikus, bio poems, acrostics, couplets, cinquains, limericks, shape poems, color poems, and free verse.
