Advent, from the Latin word adventus meaning arrival, is the 4-week period prior to Christmas. It is a time to ponder the great sacrifice that our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, made for us by coming to earth as an infant. He lived a perfect life, died a sacrificial death, and rose from the dead for us. He saved us from our sins and eternal damnation because of his great love, and adopts each person individually into his family through baptism and faith in him.

As Christmas draws near, students will keep/reflect on a personal Advent journal. Be sure to ask your child periodically about this. We joyfully wait for the coming of Christ!
We will begin studying for our ACRE test which is given by the Archdiocese to assess students’ knowledge of the Catholic faith. The test isn’t until late January, so we have plenty of time to prepare. Each child will be given a study guide to use to prepare.
We are jumping forward to Chapter 9 in preparation for learning how to add/subtract fractions. This chapter, however, will focus on number theory and fraction concepts.

Lesson 6- Equivalent Fractions and Simplest Form
