Wow!  Did you realize this is our last full week of school before Thanksgiving break?  Our last day will be Tuesday, November 22nd.  I hope that your Thanksgiving is full of extra blessings and shared with your friends and family.  Please be safe in your travels, too!   (There will not be Ext. Care on 11/22! Please plan accordingly.)

Our class is putting together a Thanksgiving “Blessing Basket” for a family in our community.  The family includes a mom and twin girls, age 7.  I have created a Sign-Up Genius to make signing up more convenient.  If you are able to share your blessings with us, please have items turned into our class by Friday, 11/18.  If you’d like to help deliver the baskets, please contact Julie Haney.  http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c084facaa2fa6f49-thanksgiving

Student Council notes: In addition to the NUT day to benefit Make-A-Wish on Nov. 22, the Council is sponsoring a collection of clothing items to benefit foster children in the Johnson County CASA program.  The donation period will be from November 14 through December 2.

Religion-

We will begin studying for our ACRE test which is given by the Archdiocese to assess students’ knowledge of the Catholic faith.  The test isn’t until late January, so we have plenty of time to prepare.  Each child will be given a study guide to use to prepare.

Math-

We are jumping forward to Chapter 9 in preparation for learning how to add/subtract fractions.  This chapter, however, will focus on number theory and fraction concepts.

Lesson 1- Prime/Composite Numbers

Lesson 2- Prime Factoring

Lesson 3- Greatest Common Factor

Please continue to brush up on multiplication and division fast facts.  Check in with your child on Rocket Math.  How far is your child?  Let’s make it a goal to have multiplication sets completed by Christmas Break!  Several may be able to finish division, too!!

Social Studies–

Chapter 3 A Time of Exploration

Lesson 3- Europeans Reach the Americas

Lesson 4- The Spanish Conquerors

Lesson 5- Search for the Northwest Passage

I hope to have this chapter finished and tested over BEFORE Thanksgiving break.  Watch student planner for updates!
