Spirit Day is on Friday, so students can come dressed in their St. Rose gear or in navy and/or yellow!

Monday is our first Math Counts meeting. It will last until 4:00. Students who are not picked up will go to Extended Care.

Here is this week…

7th math: We will be approximating square roots and looking at classifying numbers as either rational or irrational. On Thursday, we will begin looking at Pi and circles. We will have a quiz on Friday. Study guides will go home on Monday and are due on Wednesday.

7th Prealgebra: We will begin to classify numbers as either rational or irrational and will order them in least to greatest order, as well as look at mixed rational operations. On Thursday, we will begin looking at Pi and circles. We will have a quiz on Friday. Study guides will go home on Monday and are due on Tuesday.

8th Prealgebra: We will begin to look at properties of exponents this week, such as the product, quotient, and power of a power properties. We will work on volume and surface area of a pyramid this Thursday. Students will receive a study guide for Friday’s quiz on Monday and it is due on Wednesday.

Algebra: We are reviewing exponent properties, as they are a part of our standards. How long we will spend on this will depend on the need of the students and how much they remember from last year. They will receive the rest of their study guide tomorrow for Friday’s quiz. It is due on Wednesday. On Thursday, we will work on volume and surface area of a pyramid.

6th Science: We are working on procedure and data this week. Students will write a procedure that other students will follow. We will discuss how to create data tables and read them for understanding. We will have a quiz sometime late next week.

7th Science: This week, we will focus on igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks. We will discuss types and characteristics and students will look at samples of each.

8th Science: We will discuss the groups/families on the periodic table. We will begin to discuss specific properties and how to make Bohr diagrams and Lewis dot structures for the elements. Students were assigned projects for two elements on Friday. There is study hall time and maybe some in class time, but the project should be mainly done outside of school. There is a written component and a Google Slides component. It is due Sept. 15. We will also have a quiz this Thursday over list 2 of the elements.
