“EGG”CITING NEWS!

Our eggs have arrived and they are in the incubator!  We are all very excited about our chicken eggs! Hopefully your child had a chance to show you what they learned about the inside of an egg.  Next week we will be “candling” (like an ultrasound) the eggs for the first time. This will give us an opportunity to see how many of our eggs have growing chicks inside. We’ll keep you posted! You are welcome to stop by and take a look at the eggs. I know the children are anxious to show you the incubator and eggs, but PLEASE remember to stop by only when I’m in the room.   We have to be very careful that we do NOT get too close to the table so that the incubator doesn’t get bumped.   We don’t want to hurt “our babies.”   Once again, if I am in the classroom you are more than welcome to stop in either before or after school (On most days I’m at school until 3:30.). Thanks for your understanding! We’ll keep you posted and let you know when the BIG day arrives!

V.I.P. DAY

Mark your calendars for VIP day on Friday, April 22nd. For those of you that are new to St. Rose, this is our version of “Grandparents Day,” however, we know it’s not always possible for grandparents to attend so your child can bring any VERY IMPORTANT PERSON that they would like to share with their St. Rose Family.  Please be sure to fill out the registration form that came home on Wednesday.  Please return the form and lunch payment for your VIP’s by April 20th so that we can prepare for this very SPECIAL day!

The schedule is as follows:

9:00-9:30     Registration in the atrium.  VIP’s may visit student’s rooms at this time.

10:00-11:00 Mass in church.

11:15-12:00   Lunch served in the PLC.

12:15-1:15 (approx.) Program in the PLC.

Children will be allowed to leave with their grandparents or VIPs following the program, after letting the teacher know.   Students not leaving will remain with the teacher until normal dismissal time.  Extended care and buses will run as usual.  If your child WILL be leaving with their VIP after the program, please send me a note or send me an e-mail so I can make note of it.  I must have this in writing in order to let your child leave at 1:30 on VIP day.  Thank you!

KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM:

The Kindergarten program will be on Wednesday, May 18th at 6:30 p.m. in the PLC.   The children will be performing a short program and will be receiving a certificate of completion for all of their accomplishments this year followed by a small reception.  The children will be expected to MEMORIZE a poem (s) for our program. These poems will come home in NEXT week’s Friday folder so please keep an eye out for these. We do have a small class this year so there’s a possibility that your child will have 2 poems, but I wouldn’t ask them to do anything I didn’t think they were capable of doing.  I know as a “past Kindergarten parent,” it can get tiresome listening to the poem over & over, but it really helps the children to feel more comfortable on their big night if they are well prepared. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed! THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP!

*We are still in need of volunteers for VIP day.  Please be sure to check out the blog to see how you can help  http://stroseschool.stroselions.net/2016/03/30/vip-day/

*Be sure to sell, sell, sell those raffle tickets for the dinner auction.  The kindergarten class REALLY wants a pizza party.  Mrs. Boring wanting/needing a massage has nothing to do with it. 🙂

*Uniform shorts may been worn, EXCEPT for mass days, now that we have returned from spring break.

*Be sure to mark your calendars for some important dates that are quickly approaching (more information to come soon):   May 14th/St. Rose Dinner Auction, May 18th/Kindergarten Program at 6:30 p.m., May 13th/Field Day & May 25th/Last Day of School.

*Please be sure you are checking out the St. Rose website frequently to keep up to date on all that is going on at St. Rose School.  This is definitely a busy time of year!

THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

*Thanks to Mr. Boring for driving to Purdue on Monday to pick up our chicken eggs!  We truly appreciate it!

*Thanks for all of the donations that were sent in for our NUT day on Wednesday to help support our 8th graders as they make final preparations to head to D.C. at the end of this month!  They truly appreciate all of the support you’ve given them to help make this 1st annual trip a success!

*Thanks to all who supported our new Mother’s Day tradition here at St. Rose!

*Thanks in advance to all of our VIP day volunteers!  We couldn’t do it without your help!

ASK ME ABOUT…

…what we put our eggs in to keep them warm.

…why we put the eggs in a turner inside the incubator.

…what we use to measure the temperature in the incubator.

…why we put water inside the incubator.

…what a female chicken is called; what a male chicken is called.

…the parts of an egg.

…how many days it takes a chick to hatch.

…the life cycle of a butterfly.

…some things we learned about caterpillars.

…the sound for “J” and some words that begin with this sound.

…how many bundles of 10 straws we have to help illustrate how many days we’ve been in school.

…what kind of trades we made with our money this week.

…how many days of school we have left.

…our spirit day game.

Have a wonderful weekend! 🙂
