Dolphin                          3rd Grade Weekly WaveSandDollar

RELIGION  We will finish up the Unit Review and then start on Chapter 13.  We will be talking about how we can continue the Mission of the Apostles.  We will look at Jesus sent out the Apostles to share the Good News and we will talk about the Marks of the Church.

**Don’t forget students should wear Mass Uniform on mass days!  This is blue pants and white shirts for the boys.  Plaid skirt or jumper with a white shirt for the girls! We have made it to spring (Sort of …) so the girls should be wearing ONLY the skirt or jumper.  

 SPELLING This week our words will have a “vowel – consonant – vowel” pattern (ex. pilot, favor).  We will have our tests on THURSDAY and FRIDAY, due to our field trip on Wednesday. Please be sure to check the link below for the list of spelling words.

Week 25-27

READING – We will be reading “Animal Homes” this week.  We will work on descriptions, similes, rhythmic patterns, and analogies.  Our test will be on Friday.

GRAMMAR In Grammar we will be working on pronouns and contractions.  In Vocabulary we will be working on words  with roots and suffixes.     

MATH We will be starting on Chapter 16 this week.  We will be working on congruent figures, similar figures, lines of symmetry, and transformations. 

SCIENCEWe will review and finish up Chapter 5 this week.  I would like to have a test on Thursday or Friday, but we will see how the week goes.   Be watching for up to date info. on the test and be watching for a study guide.

SOCIAL STUDIES   Our next chapter in Social Studies will be Chapter 7.  We will be learning about Our American Culture.  We will talk about the Stories People Tell, myths and legends of our culture, real American Heroes, and things that make up our American Heritage.


**Our field trip to the President Benjamin Harrison Home is this Wednesday. Students will need to wear SCHOOL UNIFORMS and comfortable shoes.  Students will also need to bring a SACK LUNCH AND DRINK!  Please try to send the lunches in “lunch bags” and things that can be thrown away.  Please be sure to dress for the weather (it is supposed to be sunny, but only in the mid-50s!)  We will be leaving by 9am…please be sure your child is at school on time so we can take care of a few things before we leave.  We will be back by 2pm.

**Next week we will begin the 2nd round of the ISTEP tests. It is very important that your child is at school and on time EACH DAY. As of right now I do not know when we are scheduled to test, so if you have any doctor appointments that fall during the school day, please try to reschedule those for another week. When I know our schedule for testing, I will be sure to pass it along to you.
