RELIGION – We will have a test over Chapter 10 on Wednesday. In our next chapter we will talk about how to serve others. We will talk about the story of Philip and the Ethiopian, and Augustus Tolton, the first black priest in America.
**Don’t forget students should wear Mass Uniform on mass days! This is blue pants and white shirts for the boys. Plaid skirt or jumper with a white shirt for the girls!G Now that we are in the “winter” months, the girls may wear blue pants and white shirt. This will be in effect until March.
SPELLING – This week our words are compound words.
Tests will be Thursday and Friday!

READING – Our story this week is called “Boom Town.” We will work on vocabulary, sequencing of events, using a calendar, and comprehension.
GRAMMAR – In Vocabulary, we will start on Lesson 12. We will work on words that have to do with Science. In Grammar we will work on singular and plural pronouns. We will also look at proper nouns.
MATH – We will continue to work on fractions this week. We will work on multi-step problems, equivalent fractions, and mixed numbers. We are still continuing to review telling time and counting money. PLEASE keep working on those concepts at home as well. And it never hurts to review addition, subtraction (with regrouping), multiplying, and dividing!
SCIENCE – We will focus on Social Studies over the next few weeks.
SOCIAL STUDIES – We will start on our next chapter this week. We will be talking about A Communities Geography. We will look at how we describe a place, what people add to a place, and people and their environment. We will also look at directions and intermediate directions.
TEACHER NOTES –
**Don’t forget that PRESIDENT REPORTS are due this Wednesday and Thursday. Please be sure that your child has a written report AND their poster! They should have TWO things to turn in on the date that their reports are due.
**We will have a Resource NUT Day on Wednesday, Feb. 24. This will go to help our Resource Teacher, Mrs. Stevason, with purchasing programs that help our students. Please make a donation of at least a dollar and your child can come out of uniform.
** School Cancellations and Delays – St. Rose follows Franklin Community School for cancellations and delays. When delays or cancellations occur, they will be announced on local stations (CBS, ABC and NBC) under ‘Franklin Community Schools’. St. Rose will, also, send out an email through Jupiter. On the morning of, you may call the school office at 738-3451 to verify any delays or cancellations.
