We’ve had an EXCITING week here at St. Rose celebrating Catholic Schools Week. The children really enjoyed watching “Inside Out” in their jammies on Monday in the PLC with their school family.  I wish we could come to school in our jammies EVERY day. We played “All School BINGO” with Mrs. Floyd on Tuesday and we even won a round. 🙂  The children made VERY SPECIAL pictures for this week’s church bulletin illustrating what they love about St. Rose School.  It was so nice to hear many of them say they love their school because we go to church together, they have lots of kind friends, they love their teachers, they love their 8th grade buddies, they learn that a rainbow is a sign of God’s love and they get to learn about Jesus and his mother, Mary.  WOW!  This sure made me smile! 🙂  Maybe you’ll get to see one in your bulletin this weekend. The children did a GREAT job! On Wednesday, the children made Valentine’s for Vets.  This morning we will celebrate mass together. What a perfect way to end our week and to thank God for our WONDERFUL school, students, parents, teachers, staff and members of our church family.  We hope you are able to join us for mass.   The children are looking forward to playing “musical chairs” this afternoon when we ALL join together in the PLC for Spirit Day.  Many of the children said they are looking forward to this evening’s show. They can’t wait to see their 8th grade buddies make their big debut. We hope to see you at Punk-N-Rock! It’s always a FUN evening for all! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to teach your children.  All of you have A LOT to be PROUD of when it comes to your children, but I’m sure you already know that.  Thank you for the daily sacrifices you make to send your children to St. Rose School. We are TRULY BLESSED!  We’d also like to say a  SPECIAL THANK YOU to Mrs. Dinkel for organizing our fun-filled, CSW!  She sent us all sweet messages every day along with a special treat!  We always look forward to her extra special touch she adds to CSW!  Here are the messages we received (you probably saw these things come home & wondered why) this week:  Monday’s message was “Keep God with you EVERY DAY ALL YEAR LONG” & the children received calendar bookmarks.  Tuesday’s message was “Let your Catholic education make you BURST with JOY” & the children received a Starburst.  Wednesday’s message was “Let GOD help you SOLVE your problems” & the children were given a little cross maze/puzzle. Thursday’s message was “Pin yourself to Jesus!  He LOVES you!” & the children were given a pin that said “Jesus loves this kid.”  Today’s message was “Be SMART and STICK with GOD!” and the children were given smarties and a “sticky” hand.  🙂  Mrs. Dinkel sure knows how to spoil us!

Elisa was our STAR student this week!  She was born on August 10th at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.  Elisa loves her family very much and she is VERY EXCITED that she is going to be a BIG sister.  Elisa really looks up to her big sister Elena who is in 3rd grade here at St. Rose and she’s looking forward to having a little brother or sister that will soon look up to her.  Elisa enjoys planting flowers with her mom and visiting her dad at his restaurant.  She enjoys putting on make-up and painting nails with her sister.  Elisa also likes to put on dress up clothes and likes to be “upside down.”  From the looks of one of her pictures, she can do a pretty good headstand.  Elisa’s favorite places to go are the Franklin pool and the park.  She likes to swing and climb trees.  Her favorite toys are her stuffed animals, Pepe and Eli the Elephant.  Her favorite movie is Peanuts.  We were all surprised to see Elisa in a picture with everyone in the “Peanut” gang sitting with her in the theater.  WOW!  She looked like a movie star! 🙂  Elisa also enjoys playing instruments.  She plays the drums, the piano and the guitar.  Elisa said her and her sister have their own little band.  I hope I get an invitation someday when they have their first, big concert!  Her favorite color is purple and her favorite food is chips & queso.  Thanks for sharing, Elisa!

Valentine’s Day Party Information:

Our Valentine’s Day party will be next Friday, February 12th from 1:30-2:30.  Thanks to everyone that signed up  at “Back To School Night” to help:  Ms. Edwards/Craft,  Mrs. Adams/Game, Mrs. Arnold/Snack, Mrs. Baker/Juice Boxes and Mrs. Miller/Napkins.  All are welcome to attend the party!  The children are allowed to bring in Valentines for all of their classmates if they would like to (see below).  A class list was sent home in last week’s Friday folder .  Please have your child write the names of their classmates. This gives them good handwriting practice and helps them to recognize their classmates’ names as well. I would encourage them to write a few a day and not try to attempt the whole class list in one sitting. We don’t want to frustrate them, just give them some extra writing practice and name recognition practice.  As I mentioned last week, I will not be at school next Thursday (2/11; I will be leaving shortly after mass) and Friday (2/12;  all day).  Mrs. Salazar will be subbing.  Please call the school office if you have any change in your child’s after school schedule and need to get a message to Mrs. Salazar.   She will need to leave at 1:00 on Friday.  My room moms, Ms.

Edwards and Mrs. Larmour, are going to come in early (before the party) and stay until dismissal.  I’m sure they would love your help for the party so if you are available to come, please come to our classroom at 1:30 when the festivities begin.  I truly appreciate my room moms for their willingness to come early and stay later on a very, busy day!  We all know how excited the children are on party days!  🙂  Please help me by reminding your favorite Kindergarten student to be on their BEST behavior for all who are helping while I’m off.  The children are allowed to wear jeans and a Valentine’s Day shirt the day of  the party (red/pink/purple shirts are fine).

**Since I will not be at school 2/11 (afternoon) and 2/12, I would like to ask that IF the children plan on bringing in Valentine’s for their classmates that they bring them to school with them on Thursday, 2/11.  We normally pass them out BEFORE the party because it takes too long during the party.  This will give us a chance to put them in our V’day bags on Thursday so they are ready to take home on Friday.  Thanks in advance for your help!**

*2/5  Extended Care will be closed this afternoon due to PNR set up.  We hope to see you at Punk-N-Rock this evening @ 7:00 p.m.   You won’t want to miss it!  PRIDE will be sponsoring a chili supper before the show beginning at 5:30.  The chili supper helps to raise money for our 8th grade buddies end of the year trip to Washington D.C.   Come join some food, fun and fellowship!  What a great way to end a special week to celebrate our wonderful Catholic school.

*2/9  Student Council NUT day (look for more information to come).

*2/10  All school mass for Ash Wednesday (mass uniforms).  All are welcome!

*2/11  We will be attending our regular weekly mass (mass uniforms).  All are welcome!  Mrs. Salazar will be subbing most of the day.

*2/12  Mrs. Salazar will be subbing, Valentine’s Day party at 1:30 & 1st K of C Lenten Fish Fry in the PLC from 4-7 p.m.

*Now that winter is here, there is always a possibility of school closings or delays.  Please note that St. Rose follows Franklin Community School for cancellations and delays. On the morning of, you may call the school office at 738-3451 to verify any delays or cancellations.
