RELIGION  We will continue with Chapter 9 this week.  In this chapter we will talk about how we, as Catholics, are open to all people.  We will read about the Samaritan Woman and how Jesus will always be with us. We may have a test on Thursday. Keep watching.

There is no mass this week, however we will have a Prayer Service instead.

**Don’t forget students should wear Mass Uniform on mass days!  This is blue pants and white shirts for the boys.  Plaid skirt or jumper with a white shirt for the girls!G Now that we are in the “winter” months, the girls may wear blue pants and white shirt.  This will be in effect until March.

 SPELLING This week our words have /0u/ sounds such as “found” and “town”. Our tests this week will be THURSDAY and FRIDAY since it is a short week! See the link below for the list of words.

Week 16-18

READING We will be reading “Seven Spools of Thread” this week.  We will work on drawing conclusions, rules, multiple-meaning words, and vocabulary. Our test will be Friday.

GRAMMAR – We will be working on Linking Verbs and writing the four different types of sentences.    We will be reviewing Lessons 6-9 in Vocabulary this week.  

MATH We will finish up our chapter on telling time, calendar, and temperature this week.  We will then jump to Chapter 3 and talk about money.  We will talk about counting coins and bills, adding amounts of money, as well as comparing and ordering money amounts.                                   Our test, eventually, will cover all of these concepts.  No test is scheduled yet.  Stay tuned…

SCIENCEWe will start on Science this week.  Our next chapter will be about Ecosystems in Balance.  We will talk about how living things compete and adaptations for survival.

SOCIAL STUDIES – We will be reviewing today (Tuesday) for our test over chapter 3 and 4.  The Test will be Wednesday.  Your child should have a completed Study Guide to use to help them study.  Be sure to also see my “Test Hints” in today’s email.

**St. Rose is sponsoring a movie this weekend at the ARTCRAFT THEATER!  Movie starts at 7 pm on Friday and Saturday evenings! There is also Spaghetti Dinner in the PLC at 5:30 on Saturday evening.  All donations will help 8th grade with their class trip.

**This coming Sunday is our OPEN HOUSE!  Everyone is invited to come and check out the class your child will be in next year.  If you know anyone that is interested in their child coming to St. Rose, please encourage them to come to the Open House on Sunday, Jan. 24 from 12:30-2:00 pm.

**CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK  is coming up!  That means lots of fun “dress up” days and activities at School!  Please be watching for the Catholic Schools Week Agenda to be coming home soon. Also, mark your calendars for the Annual Chili Supper and PUNK -N- ROCK on Friday, Feb. 5th.  The Chili Supper starts at 5:30 and the Show starts at 7 pm!  You don’t want to miss it!

** School Cancellations and Delays – St. Rose follows Franklin Community School for cancellations and delays. When delays or cancellations occur, they will be announced on local stations (CBS, ABC and NBC) under ‘Franklin Community Schools’. St. Rose will, also, send out an email through Jupiter. On the morning of, you may call the school office at 738-3451 to verify any delays or cancellations.
