RELIGION  We will start on Chapter 9 this week.  In this chapter we will talk about how we, as Catholics, are open to all people.  We will read about the Samaritan Woman and Jesus will always be with us.

**Don’t forget students should wear Mass Uniform on mass days!  This is blue pants and white shirts for the boys.  Plaid skirt or jumper with a white shirt for the girls!G Now that we are in the “winter” months, the girls may wear blue pants and white shirt.  This will be in effect until March.

 SPELLING Our words this week have  “aw/augh/au” sound (yarn, taught).  We will take our tests on Wednesday and Friday. 

Week 16-18

READING – This week we will be reading “Cook-A-Doodle-Doo” We will be working on vocabulary, compare & contrast, Venn Diagrams, and reading a diagram.  We will also talk about Idioms (Ex. He is trying to be a good Samaritan.)

GRAMMAR – We will continue to work on future-tense verbs and sentence combining with verbs in GrammarWe will also work on “Be” verbs.  We will continue to work on Lesson 9 in Vocabulary.  

MATH We will be working on Chapter 12 this week.  We will be working on telling time, using a calendar, and reading a thermometer.  I would like to have a test on Friday, but we will have to see how this week unfolds!

SCIENCEWe will focus on Social Studies over the next few weeks!  However, our next chapter will be about Ecosystems in Balance.  We will talk about how living things compete and adaptations for survival.

SOCIAL STUDIES – We did not get as far as I had hoped in Social Studies, so we are still working our way through Chapter 4.  We will try and finish up by the end of the week.  Watch for a Study Guide to come home before the test.

**Scholastic Book Orders are coming home today.  They need to be returned by this Friday.  You can also order on-line if you would rather order that way.  If you send the book order in to me, please be sure you write a check. Please DO NOT SEND CASH!

** School Cancellations and Delays – St. Rose follows Franklin Community School for cancellations and delays. When delays or cancellations occur, they will be announced on local stations (CBS, ABC and NBC) under ‘Franklin Community Schools’. St. Rose will, also, send out an email through Jupiter. On the morning of, you may call the school office at 738-3451 to verify any delays or cancellations.
