Dolphin                        3rd Grade Weekly WaveSandDollar

RELIGION     We will start on Chapter 8 this week (we didn’t get to it last week). We will be talking about how we pray to the Holy Spirit.  We will read about the Holy Trinity and the story of St. Patrick.  

**We have Mass two times this week. We will celebrate Mass on Tuesday for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary, and again on Thursday for our regular all school Mass.

**Don’t forget students should wear Mass Uniform on mass days!  This is blue pants and white shirts for the boys.  Plaid skirt or jumper with a white shirt for the girls!G Now that we are in the “winter” months, the girls may wear blue pants and white shirt.  This will be in effect until March.

 SPELLING We will be working on some spelling activities with our spelling words this week, but we will NOT have a spelling tests this week.

Week 13-15

READING This week we will read “Saving the Sand Dunes.”  We will work on reading concepts such as cause and effect, using library resources, and multiple – meaning words.  We will NOT have a reading test this week though.

GRAMMAR – We will continue to talk about present-tense verbs and add past-tense verbs in Grammar.  We will also work on Lesson 8 and Lesson 9 in Vocabulary.  

MATH We will continue with Division this week in Math.  We will work on dividing by 5, 10, 3, 6, 7, 8, and 9.  Please continue to work on the multiplication facts as we get closer to the Multiplication Sundae Party on the 17th! The Party will be at 2 P.M. in the classroom.

SCIENCE – We will focus on Social Studies over the next few weeks!

SOCIAL STUDIES – We will be combining Chapters 3 & 4 over the next couple of weeks. We will look at how local communities have governments, what services are provided by community governments, the branches and levels of our government and we will work on reading a map with state capitals and borders. We will also talk about our national government, how citizens have rights and responsibilities, and models of American Citizenship.  

TEACHER NOTES –  

**We will be doing a preview of the BOOK FAIR today (Monday) and we will then be purchasing books on Wednesday morning.  Your child will most likely be coming home with a “Wish List” today. 🙂

**We will also be gearing up for the Christmas Program!  This week we will have a few practices/rehearsals. Don’t forget our CHRISTMAS PROGRAM is THURSDAY, DEC. 10! Students may come to the classroom at 6:45pm.  Please do not send them before 6:45, as I will not be in the room until then.  Students need to wear “Sunday/Christmas Best”. Please remember NO JEANS are to be worn for the program.  The Band/Choir will start at 7pm with the student program starting after that around 7:15/7:20.

**Watch for information to be coming home about the Santa Shop that will be on December 15 and 16.  This will be an opportunity for the children to purchase Christmas gifts for family and friends.  They will be able to shop, wrap, and surprise you with the special things they picked out (without you knowing) for Christmas! 

** School Cancellations and Delays – St. Rose follows Franklin Community School for cancellations and delays. When delays or cancellations occur, they will be announced on local stations (CBS, ABC and NBC) under ‘Franklin Community Schools’. St. Rose will, also, send out an email through Jupiter. On the morning of, you may call the school office at 738-3451 to verify any delays or cancellations.
