No Afternoon Extended Care on Friday, December 18

Kindergarten Bound:

The children are on the letter Nn this week and need to start looking for something that starts with the letter Nn for show-n-tell on Friday.

The children were greeted today with “Star” our Elf on the Shelf! She came from the North Pole and watch and report back to Santa Claus on their behavior. They also know that “Star” will be watching them when they are at home too, so please use this to your advantage if needed. 🙂

Now that it is getting cold outside, I am asking that you make sure your child has a winter coat to wear outside for recess. Some of the children came in a light sweater or jacket. We will go outside weather permitting everyday unless it is below 25 degrees. Make sure you put your child’s name in the winter coat.

I will be testing the children and sending home their results on the curriculum we are learning. This will give you some idea of where your child is at on his/her academics and what areas they still need to practice.

Testing On:

Alphabets- recognizing, letter sounds and writing (Testing on letters Aa – Oo)

Numbers- recognizing and writing (Testing on numbers 0-20)

Colors- recognizing (red, blue, yellow, green, gray, pink, purple, brown, black)

Shapes- recognizing (square, circle, triangle, rectangle, star, heart, diamond)

Name- recognizing and writing

Bigger and Smaller

Short and Tall

Next semester, we will work on drawing our shapes, recognizing and writing our last name, opposites, patterning along with the alphabets, numbers and colors.

Lion Cubs:

When we have our Christmas Carols with the Preschoolers on Friday, December 18. I am asking the parents who only bring their child on their school days, to please have your child in their classroom by 9:45am. Mrs. Langferman will be in the Lion Cubs room and the Kindergarten Bound children will come over to the Lion Cubs room at 9:50am to line up and get ready to sing their songs for you, your family and friends along with all the students.

This is a great time for the preschoolers and they are so adorable on stage singing to everyone! They love being the Star of the show!

Kindergarten Bound/Lion Cubs:

Please check your child’s book bag and make sure the only things in their book bags are their folder, extra clothes in case of an accident and their show-n-tell on their show-n-tell days. Nothing else should be in their book bags. It becomes a distraction when they bring things from home and we can’t get to their folder due to all the other stuff in their book bags. They also have a tendency to get some of the things out of their book bag and want to play with them causing a distraction in the classroom and arguments with the other children who want to play with their stuff. Thank you for your cooperation on this matter.

If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.

Thank you,
Mrs. Mace
