Happy Halloween!  I hope your month has been spook-tacular in all ways!  It’s crazy to think October closes out this week and we are onto November.  This tends to be a very exciting and busy time of year for all of us, so please make sure to read my weekly blog.  As always, drop me a line if you have any questions.

The Beatitudes show us how to live like Jesus.  We are called to recognize that God calls us to use our gifts and talents for the good of others.

Remember: Family Time can be done for extra credit. Simply send a note from home!

We are starting to write our own notes(with teacher help, of course!).  Ask to see your child’s notes periodically.  Emphasize they write legibly so the notes are helpful come test time!

Lesson 5: Search the Northwest Passage

Skill: European Exploration

Reading- The Night of San Juan (fiction story)

Skills: Main Idea, Supporting Details, Summarize

Vocabulary: check student reading journals for list and definitions

Spelling: We are back to a list of 25 words.

Pre-tests are given on Mondays. Final test will be on Friday.

Ask what a spelling card is!

Science-  Process of photosynthesis, transpiration, and respiration in plants

Deputy Baird will be with us on Wednesday to talk about Internet Safety.  Join us if you’d like!

Halloween Party on Friday, 10/30 at 2pm.  Students are welcome to bring a costume to change into for our party.  Treats are also welcome!  Let me know if you’d like to plan a game or craft.  Students may wear orange/black on Friday, too!

Field Trip:  We are excited to attend a professional performance of one of our favorite stories, “The BFG”.  This production by the Dallas Performance Company will be at Clowes Hall on Nov. 17th.  Student tickets are $8 and adult tickets are $15.  We are in need of 2-3 drivers.  Please let me know if you can join us!  Thanks in advance for your support.
