Religion

Chapter 1: God’s Wonderful Creation

In the Book of Genesis, we read the account of Creation. It helps us understand that men and women are made in God’s divine image and are responsible for taking care of his created world.

Remember: Family Time can be done for extra credit. Simply send a note from home!

Math- 

Chapter 1 Place Value of Whole Numbers and Decimals

Lesson 1: Place Value through Hundred Billions-   Standard and expanded forms

Social Studies– 

Chapter 1 Our Country’s Geography

Lesson 1: Landforms

 

Reading- 

Story for the week is Miss Alanieus- realistic fiction

Skill: Character and Plot

Vocabulary: slumped, soggy, capable, categories, strands, gigantic, credit, luminous

Writing: Personal narrative – Organization

 

Science- Mrs. Tieken will be teaching 5th grade science.

Spelling- Pre-tests are given on Mondays. Final test will be on Friday.

20 words on list plus 5 bonus words (each child has a list in their binder)

Ask what a spelling card is!

 

Extras:  

Band- information will be coming home on Friday about how to join beginning band class.

PRIDE meeting—Tuesday in the PLC at 6:30pm

Back to School Night—We hope you will join us on August 20th starting at 6pm.

Spirit Day is this Friday! Wear your blue and gold.

The Feast of St. Rose of Lima will be celebrated on Sunday, August 23. Hope to see you at mass!
