The little Lion Cubs are here! This week we learned all the procedures! We are still working on them, but we are improving! We learned how to come into the building and come into the room. We learned to find our hooks and name tags. We’re working on placing our name tags on the board so we can mark our lunch count. We;re also working on lunch procedures and remembering our lunch boxes!
All the students really enjoyed the toys! They are learning to play with others, or at least take turns! They learned how to sit on the carpet and participate in circle. We are working on our Bible verse, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength”! Philippians 4:13. We have been hearing this song on the announcements in the morning. We also do the Pledge of Allegiance. It is a process–it will take a while!
After circle time we have centers. At our tables, we work on puzzles, crafts and other learning activities.
During recess, the children have been able to explore the new equipment on the playground. Lunch is a new experience for the little ones, and the lunchroom is a little overwhelming for them, but after lunch they come back in the classroom and have rest time. Most of them have been taking naps, which apparently they do need!
Mrs. McKinney takes care of the little ones every afternoon and we have also have a cadet teacher, Emma Sutton, who is a graduate of St. Rose School!
Next week we will continue with our “Going to School” theme and after that we will have a new theme each week. We are going to be working on a “All about Me” theme soon and will be sending home a little homework for you to fill out with your child so that we can hang these up in the room and make each child feel special. We also want to get to know everyone a little better! This paper will come home on Monday. Please return it by the following Monday-Aug. 20.
Birthdays/Special Days- We have decided to let each child celebrate a “Special Day” (not necessarily their birthday, but it could be). On this day, the parent may come to school with the child from 8-9:15. At this time, the child will be playing and you can also stay for snack, if you like. You may bring a special snack, but remember that our school has strict food guidelines. Snacks should not be high in calories. We cannot have cake or cookies, but can have fruit, crackers, popcorn, or other foods like that. As far as I can tell, there are no food allergies in our class, so that is helpful. Please let me know if I am mistaken there.
Thanks so much! As always, if you ever have any questions or concerns, you may contact me through my email. firstname.lastname@example.org
