It’s hard to believe there are only 8 school days left and I’m typing my last newsletter of the school year! It’s going to be especially hard letting this class go since I have taught many of them for 2 years now and the children that were new to our class this year were such a wonderful addition! I can’t thank you enough for all of your help and support this year (and last year for many of you). I’m so happy I took the “leap” with you and your children. You all made my transition into first grade an easy one. Your children are truly a blessing and I’m glad I had the privilege to teach them. They have all grown so much spiritually, academically and socially. For the children I’ve taught for 2 years, it’s been so much fun seeing the growth they have made from the first day of Kindergarten to now. WOW! I told the children that even though they’ll be Ms. Coleman’s students next year, I’ll still be checking in on them. 🙂 I also let the children know how important it is to get outside and play this summer and I reminded them the importance of READING EVERY DAY! The Franklin library has a wonderful summer reading program so I’m hoping the children will get signed up and continue reading. It’s also a good idea for the children to work on getting their math facts “down.” We talked about some different ways they can do this: flashcards, taking some time to work on Xtra-Math a little each day, using sidewalk chalk to write their facts, throwing a ball back and forth with a friend as they yell out their facts w/every throw (just ask your child, they’ll tell you what I mean 🙂 ), etc. Be sure if your child is still having trouble tying his/her shoes that you work on that this summer. Ms. Coleman is going to expect all of the children to be able to do this by the start of the school year. Thanks again for a wonderful school year! Have a safe and wonderful summer! May God continue to bless you and your families!
Important Dates/Reminders/Thank you’s:
*Thanks for all of the pop donations you’ve been sending in for our fall festival!
*Thanks to all who helped in any way to make the St. Rose dinner auction a success! We couldn’t do it without our wonderful volunteers!
*Thanks for all of your help this year with our classroom parties & providing us with snacks every day!
*5/22 Ms. Rosemary O’Brien will be subbing from 11:30-dismissal. This is the day we all get to enjoy our reward for the children selling the most dinner auction raffle tickets. The children will enjoy a movie and popcorn while I enjoy lunch and an afternoon off. Thanks for selling those tickets! If there is a change in your child’s after school plans, please be sure to let the office know so they can get the message to Ms. O’Brien. Please remind your children to be on their BEST behavior for Ms. O’Brien. Please be sure your child returns any library books they have not yet handed in. They will NOT be checking out any more books this year.
*5/23 Move-up Day; the children will get a chance to go to Ms. Coleman’s room to hear all about 2nd grade. Kindergarten program at 6:30 p.m.
*5/24 8th grade graduation at 7:00 p.m. I could be a little emotional on Wednesday knowing my 2nd daughter is graduating from St. Rose Thursday evening. Both of my girls are finished with school on Thursday so as of then I will have a senior and a freshman next year. 🙁 We’ve been coming to St. Rose every day for the past 11 years, it’s hard to believe just me & Colin will be coming here next year. Where does the time go?
*5/25 Field Day. The children will receive their field day shirts when they arrive at school on Friday. Please be sure to put sunscreen on your child before coming to school on Friday. We will be outside most of the day (praying for good weather) and they will be exhausted when they get home. If you are available to help out in any way on field day, please let Mr. Setnor know firstname.lastname@example.org .
*5/28 NO SCHOOL/Memorial Day
*5/31 Last day of school schedule: All are welcome for 8:30 mass and 12:15 awards in the PLC. There will be early dismissal at 1:00 p.m. on the last day of school. If you plan on coming for awards, please park in rows like you do for dismissal to help things run smoothly and safe as we dismiss.
*7/9-7/13 Be sure to sign your children up for Vacation Bible School from 9-noon. The children always have a wonderful time & get to see some of their classmates. Contact Julie Haney at email@example.com for more information.
