Thanks to all of our special guests that came for VIP day and our beautiful May Crowning on Friday! It was a wonderful day! The children did a great job at mass and during their program. There were lots of smiles and PROUD VIP’s. A SPECIAL THANKS to all of the teachers, staff and volunteers that made this day a success! I always enjoy getting to visit with our “returning” VIP’s and getting to meet those who are here for the first time. The children are looking forward to meteorologist, Kevin Gregory, coming to our classroom on Tuesday to talk about the weather. Be sure to ask them about his visit! I can’t believe we only have 3 1/2 weeks of school left. Where did this year go? This year has been a transition for me after teaching Kindergarten for the past 10 years, but your continued support has definitely made it a smooth one. I truly appreciate all you’ve done for me and the children! It’s not going to be easy letting this group go! I feel blessed to have been given the opportunity to teach this special group of children for 2 years and to have gained 5 more special children to our class this year. What a wonderful group of children! I told them they won’t get rid of me that easy though because I will be peeking in on them next year. 🙂 Wishing all of our mothers, grandmothers & Godmothers a blessed Mother’s Day next Sunday! Below is a preview of some of the things we’ll be doing this week :
Over the next 3 weeks we will be reviewing all of our Saxon rules and high frequency words.
We have finished all of our spelling word lists! Wow! Over the next few weeks we will be reviewing the sight words (* asterisk words) that were on our spelling lists. We will have a pre-test on Wednesday and the final test on Friday as we’ve been doing. Here are the words for this week: said, of, you, what, are, from, friend, come, there, does, been & their. Please remember, these words are NOT to be sounded out. There will not be a sentence dictated to the children to write, however, I will be sure to use “there & their” in a sentence to help the children tell the difference between the words.
We have finished our 5 reading books and leveled readers so the children will no longer have reading homework on Monday and Wednesday evenings. However, we will continue reading every day at school and I encourage you to continue to read every night at home. The children have grown so much since the beginning of the year! We will be working on reading comprehension over the next few weeks as well!
Over the next 3 weeks we will be talking about graphing, shapes (2 & 3 dimensional) and continue to review addition & subtraction. I would like to encourage the children to continue working on their addition/subtraction facts this summer (flashcards are usually the best way to memorize these facts).
This week we will be talking about Mary, our Blessed Mother.
